AMETHYST Study – Participate in Psychosis Research

The AMETHYST study by Swinburne University aims to determine which therapy is most effective for hearing voices.

The randomised controlled study (RCT) will compare the current standard therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), with a newer and promising intervention, Avatar therapy.

This new approach uses virtual reality technology to recreate the voices a person hears as digital avatars. The avatars are used in therapy sessions so therapists can support clients to develop adaptive responses to their voices.

Who is eligible to participate in the study?

You may be eligible if you:

  • Hear voices
  • Live in Australia
